here i am!
trying to get back in the habit of posting more often. work is just busy, and i never get computer time at home.
i'm in the process of trying to hire as many substitute teachers as i possibly can before march 1 for one of our alternative school campuses. they're getting an influx of 200 kids that day, and they'll need warm bodies to control them all, and hopefully some of those warm bodies can actually teach the kids something....
i'm not good at asking for help. apparently they think i can do this all by myself, along with various other duties i have here too. i feel like if i ask for help in this, they'll wonder what the hell i'm doing with my time, and just consider me lazy. but dammit, just one more person working on this with me would make such a big difference. especially when they need these people working as of yesterday, and i just can't do it fast enough. sigh.
i guess i should quit wasting time blogging when i've got tons of employment verifications and personal references to do, forms to complete, phone calls to make, interviews to schedule.......ugh. i guess this is one of those times when i do kind of miss casework. i just can't get motivated!!!!!!!!!

How is it part of your job to hire subs? Don't they do that through the school system? Or is it different because it's AEP? (or whatever you call the alternative schools there)

we run the school system within the probation department. all teachers, principals, subs, etc, are probation employees. so we hire them. the school system we contracted with before went backrupt. and houston isd doesn't want any part of staffing our schools. go figure.
